Positron V3.2 - Z Drive

This guide will contain instructions for building the Z drive for the Positron V3.2.

Before you start to assemble, please make sure you have these parts printed.

Prepare Printed Parts

Step 1 of 8 in this section

Install heatset inserts into the printed Z drive main body and outer housing.

Install one MR85 bearing into the hole of the main body as indicated in the picture.

Prepare Planetary Gears

Step 2 of 8 in this section

Position the MR85 bearings into the planetary gears. Three sets are needed.

Assemble Planerary Carrier Shaft

Step 3 of 8 in this section

Install the planetary gears to the planetary carrier shaft as shown in the picture.

Place an MF148ZZ bearing on the shaft.

Install Planetary Gearbox Cover

Step 4 of 8 in this section

Make the shaft go through the hollow center of the outer housing.

Please apply small grease to the gears and check that the gear spin freely.

Cover the outer housing with the planetary gearbox cover.

Add the Z Motor

Step 5 of 8 in this section

Attach the Z motor to the planetary gearbox cover so that the wires are oriented towards the bottom.

Install the pulley into the hole of the outer housing.

Secure the pulley with a grubscrew so that it connects to the shaft on the flat side.

Cover with the printed main body.

Fasten the Screws

Step 6 of 8 in this section

Put the printed Z motor bracket as shown in the picture and secure with an M3x25 BHCS screw.

Position the washers and the idler in the indicated order and secure with an M3x20 BHCS screw.

Use an M3x20 BHCS screw in the left hole (red arrow) and an M3x8 BHCS screw in the right hole (blue arrow).

Don't use too much force with the screws.

Install Heatset Inserts

Install one M2.5x3x4 heatset insert into the indicated hole.
