This guide will contain instructions for building the Z Columnfor the Positron V3.2.

Before you begin to assemble, please make sure you have these parts printed.

2. Installation

Load T-nuts

Load roll-in nuts into the 1030 extrusion.

Install the Linear Rail onto the Extrusion

Step 2 of 16 in this section

Put the linear rail on top of the extrusion and align the preloaded nuts with the holes of the linear rail.

Use alignment jigs to help you poisiton. Install M3x8 SHCS screws and leave them slightly loose in order to adjust them later on.

There should be no screw in the first and last hole of the linear rail.

Insert the M6x23 thumb screw in the first (large) hole to help position the linear and extrusion.

Tighten all the screws and take off the thumb screw. Remember to tighten the screws from the middle outwards.

Add the Spring Stopper

Put one M4 hexnut on the positon about 78mm from the top edge of the extrusion.

Z Top Idler Block - Add A Screw

Put an M3x18 FHCS screw through the hole of the Z sliding idler block and secure with a M3 hexnut.

Z Top Idler Block - Add A 6mm Idler

Add a 6mm idler on top of the M3 hex nut and then secure with an M3 nylock nut.

Install the Top Idler Block

Put the spring into the side slot of the extrusion where we installed a hex nut.

Push the spring inward with the Z sliding idler block.

Attach the Z stopper to the end of the linear rail and secure with an M3x12 SHCS screw.

Assemble the Tensioning Lever

Put an M3x18 FHCS screw through the smaller hole of the belt tensioner lever.

Place a 6mm idler on and secure with an M3 nylock nut.

Install the Tensioning Lever

Put an M4 hex nut on the position about 78mm from bottom edge of the extrusion.

Align the brass sleeve with the M4 hex nut, and secure using an M4x10 BHCS screw.

Prepare the Bed Carriage Block

Combine the bed carriage block and bed breakout PCB.

Install M2.5x6 wafer head screws in these two holes.

Add the printed PCB spacer to the back of the PCB.

Use a small piece of tape to keep the PCB spacer in place.

Install the Bed Carriage Block

Attach the bed carriage block onto the sliding block of the linear rail with M3x12 SHCS screws. Only use the top two holes as indicated. We will use the other two holes later.

Add Retainer Block

Attach the Z belt retainer block as shown in the picture.

Prepare the Left Z Joint Plate

Attach left Z Joint Plate to Extrusion
