Positron V3.2 - Base Plate 1

This guide will contain instructions for building the base plate (part 1) for the Positron V3.2.

Prepare the Base Plate Cover

Step 1 of 16 in this section

Turn the base plate over and install M3x8 BHCS screws in the indicated holes.

Install Standoffs

Step 2 of 16 in this section

Secure the screws with standoffs. Use M3x8x7x10 standoffs in the holes (red arrows), and use M3x8x7x15 standoffs in the holes (yellow arrows).

Align the flat side of the taller standoffs with the edge of the base plate. Otherwise it may influence the following assembly of the light guide strips.

Install the Z Joint Base Block

Attach the Z joint base block to the foot of the bae plate.

Install the Printed Parts

Install M2.5x3x4 heatset inserts into the printed rear light bar bracket.

Prepare the Printed Tensioner Block

Install M3x6x5 heatset inserts in the top holes of the printed rear idler tensioner block.

Insert an M3x6 hex female standoff into the middle hole.

Prepare the Linear Rail

Slide the tensioner block to the linear rail.

Install the Linear to the Standoffs

Install A Screw

Install an M3x20 SHCS screw in the indicated hole.

Prepare the Motors

Put the motor plates on top of the motors and secure with M3x6 BHCS screws.

Position the Motors

Step 10 of 16 in this section

Position the motors to the standoffs and align the holes of the plates with the standoffs. Secure with M3x8 BHCS screws.

Install Screws into the Base Plate

Use M2.5x4+5 standoffs in the indicated holes.

Add the Thermal Silicone Pads

Step 12 of 16 in this section

Turn the board over and stick the thermal silicone pads to the spots as shown in the image.

Remove the plastic film on both sides of the thermal pads

Align the four holes of the Positron board with the holes of the base plate, and secure using M2.5x4 SHCS screws.

Install the Switch PCB

Position the PV3 switch board on the standoffs and secure with M2.5x4 SHCS screws.

Make sure the black and red wires go to the corresponding colored terminals as shown in the picture.

The wires need to be positioned as close to the bottom of the plate as possible. Don't let them curl up. Otherwise it may affect the following assembly of the front LED PCB.

Wire Connection

Plug the female connectors of the X and Y motors into the corresponding male connectors as shown in the picture.

You can use a zip tie to help manage the wires of the motors.
